Vitrified Tiles

Floor Tiles
Vitrified tiles are tiles which have undergone a process called vitrification which gives the tiles its unique advantages. Vitrified Tiles have extremely low porosity and very little water absorption rate. This unique feature of vitrified tiles makes them strong, hard, stain resistant and also durable. There are many benefits of using this kind of tile over granite or natural marble tiles. Although most of the benefits comes from the tiles being durable, hard and strong, they are also attractive and gives homes a modern look.

You can rely on the quality of these tiles because these are man-made. Wall Tiles which have failed to meet quality standards are not sold. For this reason, people can depend on the quality because they will never get anything that is not up to the standards. On the other hand, granite and marble are natural and there are chances that you may find better quality granite and marble tiles at one place then the other. Depending on the place you choose to shop for granite and marble tiles, you may have to compromise with the quality that is being offered to you.

These days, a large number of people choose to use this flooring option in their homes because these are hard, strong, stain as well as water resistant. The treatment or the process these tiles undergo provides them the ability to with stand extreme conditions without losing their appearance or functionality. These tiles also resist discoloration and scratches as opposed to granite tiles which start to become yellowish after a couple of years.

There are a number of purposes for which Vitrified Tiles can be used. You can use these in your homes as a great flooring option, wall covering option, back-splashes, decor, and even showers. These tiles are water resistant and are able to hold up better even if they are used in kitchens and bathrooms. When compared to granite tiles and marble tiles, vitrified tiles is the best option that you can choose.

Another good thing about this option is that they can be easily installed. Installation is much easier than granite or marble tiles. This can save time for both the tile layers as well as the home owners. Just like marble tiles and granite tiles, these tiles are also attractive and they can be coated with a glossy finish to give the perfect look for the modern home. If you are looking to buy tiles for your home, consider using Vitrified Tiles because they offer numerous advantages over naturally occurring marble and granite tiles.

Sanitary Ware

Floor Tiles
Here we look at the five most popular styles of bathroom designs. Traditional, Country, Shabby chic, Contemporary and Fantasy.

Traditional

The Traditional bathroom can mean either traditional in terms of Edwardian or Victorian style, or in respect to a standard white bathroom with basic Sanitary Ware and bath. Here, we'll be looking at the style of bathroom design where it all started. The Edwardian bathroom.

Over the past decade, with the popularity of TV shows like Changing Rooms, the trend for old-fashioned bathrooms has seen a real upsurge. A rare gem of an old slipper bath or rusty traditional faucet may be found at a scrap yard or in a skip, but thankfully manufacturers are keeping up with demand with skillfully crafted traditional bathroom products.

Certain rooms only work in certain houses, so if you are living in a modern high rise apartment the traditional bathroom isn't going to work for you. If you have an old cottage or villa retreat this style of bathroom is one you should definitely consider.

Almost always, the bath is the center piece attraction of the traditional bathroom. A free-standing roll-top or slipper bath sits proudly on a dark polished floor, and only if going for a traditional continental style bathroom will an inset or sunken tub hold appeal. Either a wall-mounted faucet or a free-standing one looks classy. Deep ridges and curved angles are what makes the traditional Sanitary Ware what it is - bold and masculine.

When decorating a traditional bathroom both soft tones and bold colors can work well. Strong tones of browns, maroons and greens give a nice warmth to the room, but be sure the bathroom is well lit, maybe with a lavish chandelier. With the right colors, antique gold can look better than chrome. Go for curtains, never blinds. If going for a vanity unit rather than a traditional basin and pedestal, choose an oak or cherry finish; or the white Cynk vanity unit is a good look with traditional baths and toilets.

Country

The country style bathroom is perhaps the easiest type of design to create, and like the traditional bathroom only really works well within the right house. The classic country look is best associated with floral wallpaper, high beams, basin frills and a bath canopy. Following the traditional design, cast iron baths and deep ridged Sanitary Ware are what gives the country bathroom its nostalgic look.

Check, floral or plaid curtains are preferred over roller blinds, and shutters, though rare in England, offer a great form of privacy as well as adding to the country effect. Wood plays a big part in this look, and almost all furniture works well in this setting, especially beech, maple, ash and oak vanity units and cabinets.

Either Floor Tiles or wooden floors can be used. Tiles should be a rustic color, and can be used to create elaborate mosaics. Wooden floors should be varnished to match the furniture. Decorating may see a stenciled motif used as a border, and the technique of rubbing paint on the walls with a sponge gives the room that worn natural look.

Toilets with high level cisterns and pull chains are very rare these days, but a must have for the country bathroom, as are traditional taps for the bath and basin. Just about any kind of free-standing bath will suit the country bathroom. If wishing to have a shower a tiled walk-in shower is the advisable option with a curtain to conceal the area.

For the final touch add wicker baskets filled with pot pouri, wire basket shelves and stylish wall lamps.

Shabby Chic

Shabby chic, a relatively new phrase used to describe room designs, is an obscure blend of neglect and style. It is one of the most difficult bathroom designs to create, and it takes a bold decision to go for this bathroom style. It almost certainly achieves its full potential in a continental house, either a French chateau or old Spanish villa.

Modern
As well as the furniture, wall-hung Sanitary Ware is a great space-saving solution while giving the bathroom a contemporary feel. Also, concealed cistern units are a more eye-pleasing look than the standard close-coupled toilet.

Shower baths are a great practical way of optimizing the space, so that you have the comfort of both bathing and showering. Walk-in showers are also very popular in the modern bathroom, and if buying a shower enclosure for the modern bathroom choose one with a chrome structure over white.

For the Sanitary Ware go with wall-hung or standard close-coupled toilet and basin with pedestal with acute angles and a contemporary design. Abstract towel rails and wenge wall-hung furniture fit well in the fantasy bathroom, giving it that calm almost surreal look.

The ultimate luxury in a fantasy bathroom would have to be a waterproof TV. You could even think of doubling the bathroom up as gym, complete with exercise bike and rowing machine.

Ornaments should be unobtrusive, so choose things like small piles of pebbles and modern wall prints over candles and nick-nack.

Floor Tiles

Wall Tiles
The cork Floor tiles are becoming more and more popular with home and business owners because of the many benefits offered by the material. Cork is a type of bark that is gathered from the Cork Oak Tree. This tree is found in Europe and northern Africa. The process of gathering the bark of the tree does not harm the tree, and as a result, cork is considered one of the leading types of eco-friendly flooring in use today.

Cork Floor Tiles are manufactured from the bark that is collected from the trees. These tiles can be small or large, and can be installed in an area in one of two ways. Generally, cork tiles can be glued or installed as a floating floor. How these tiles are installed depends on the type of tile and the needs of the owner of the space.

The process of gluing cork Floor Tiles is simple. The tiles are arranged, and then the adhesive is applied directly to the tile and the floor. This is usually done over some kind of hard surface, like concrete or plywood. It is the easiest and fastest way to lay cork tiles, although it does take some time for the glue to dry.

The other way of installing cork floor tiles takes a little more finesse. Installing a floating floor requires that the tiles have a tongue and groove edge. The tiles are then fitted into the room, floating over the existing floor. This type of floor has a lot more give than the glued tiles, but it takes longer to install, and it requires a little more knowledge about the various techniques of installing a floor.

Cork Floor Tiles, despite the name, are not limited to use on the floor. They can also be used on walls or other surfaces to add a little bit of padding as needed. One of the best things about cork flooring and cork tiles is their versatility essentially, the user is limited only by gravity and imagination when it comes to the different uses of these tiles.

Cork floors provide many benefits that other types of wood floors do not, but one of the best things about these is how easy they are to install. Rather than dealing with long pieces of wood, like with traditional wood floors, an individual who wants a floor can install it using only cork floor tiles.

Porcelain Floor Tiles

Wall Tiles
Porcelain floor tiles are quite popular due to the fact that they are durable, easy to clean, and a great solution for rooms that receive a great deal of moisture such as bathrooms or kitchens. They also are available in a number of different styles and colors which make it easy to match them to any decor regardless of how subdued or flamboyant the existing style of a room is. In addition, due to the fact that they are practical and attractive they will add value to any home simply with their presence.

One of the reason that people choose to use porcelain when it comes to their flooring is the fact that they add a nice quality finish to just about any floor area and with such a wide variety of patterns and colors available on the market you can easily create an attractive design that is one of a kind for your home. Despite their pretty appearance however, porcelain Floor Tiles are quite strong making them ideal for areas of the home that receive a large amount of traffic such as doorways, entryways, kitchen floors and more.

For the most part the Floor Tiles are also resistant to most scratches, stains, and even from absorbing leaks which is another reason why they are so a great choice for bathrooms and kitchens. When it comes to choosing if you want unpolished, polished, or textured tiles these factors will weigh heavily on your decision as well as your cleaning habits since various types will require various types of cleaning methods. Therefore, it is best to match your floor tiles to the type of cleaning style that you are most likely to use otherwise you run the risk of damage and wear long before you should expect to see any signs of aging.

For example, many people are attracted to the gleam of Polished Floor Tiles, but these are the most likely to scratch so during cleaning you need to be careful not to use a stiff broom or mop. The best way to clean polished tiles is with a quick sweep followed by a mild cleaning soap and mop. Although you may be tempted, it is always best not to use bleach on Porcelain Tiles due to the fact that over time this will cause the color to fade at a much quicker rate then it would otherwise.

If you choose unpolished tiles you should clean in the same manner although you can be less picky about the broom that you choose to use since scratches are less likely to occur. On the other hand, textured tiles require a bit more care because you will have to perform a more thorough clean in order to make sure that all marks and dirt life off so that the pattern of the tiles does not look smudged. This way the true complexity of the tiles that you choose will show through in the design unmarred.

Wooden Floor Tiles

Wall Tiles
Of every one of the readily offered coverings for floors, ceramic and quarry tiles are the lengthiest lived and most difficult of supplies. Laid properly, the wooden floor tiles should add significantly to the value of one’s house as well as the huge range of types obtainable leaves a lot of scope for expressing your own private taste in design and style.

Prior to going ahead even so it truly is too to consider the limitations of using Ceramic Tiles and quarry tiles. Most hard tiles raise the level of the floor quite significantly, which could involve getting rid of skirting, trims around doors, and fitting wooden ramps with adjoining floor surfaces. Difficult tiles are as good as long term so you should feel twice prior to laying them about built-in structures such as kitchen units and islands because the probabilities are the units will probably be the initial to go, leaving holes which you may not manage to match.

The wooden floor tiles are much better well suited for challenging tiling than suspended wooden ones. It’s doable to tile a wooden floor but only if it is definitely free of structural motion and correctly lined with plywood. It is also very important to keep in mind that following laying a Floor Tiles, you are going to no longer have admission for the companies which run under once the tiles are firmly fixed in spot. When locating your tiles you may find that DIY shops, builder’s merchants and superstores stock limited runs from the far more well-liked runs of ceramic floor tiles, but their alternative of quarry tiles is typically fairly restricted. For your widest choice of all forms of tiles, go to a specialist tiles supplier as most have panels displaying the finished effect which might ‘t be as you may have imagined.

When it comes to your layout there are other important items that ought to be regarded as. In the event the tiling project is to get a bathroom or an entrance hall, the tiles are probably to have wet. The wooden Floor Tiles of these places ought to have a non-slip surface to prevent injury.

Tiles also come in a gloss or matte finish which gives you added options. And do you’ve got a fundamental preference for flat or broken color? Flat colors make a good clean, streamlined impact but you might effectively uncover it is as well clinical if used above a sizable area. And when the area you are tiling is prolonged and narrow, arranging your tiles in a diagonal pattern can give the impression of better width.

Ian Partridge is engaged in promoting the use of wooden Floor Tiles and wood flooring tiles for home beautification. When shopping for flooring for our new residence in Australia, we knew we wanted something of high quality. We were really impressed with all the Karndean Vinyl flooring. The other brands basically tend not to match up.

Protecting Floor Tiles

Wall Tiles
Of all the tiles that we use in our house of  floor tiles  are probably the most vulnerable tiles. They are different from many of the other flooring surfaces. When your floor tiles leave the factory, they have been through a barrage of treatments. In their initial stage as molten clay, aluminum powder may have been added to strengthen the tiles. Next, they may have been treated with a glaze to add a layer of protection and enhance their appearance. From there, your tiles were fired to immensely high temperatures, essentially cooking the tile, and further sealing the glaze. Finally, your tile is treated to a sealer which will protect it, both in transit to your home and then again once it's set in place in your home.

After all these steps its your responsibility to look maintenance of these tiles and prolong their life. The companies have done their part and took every step to ensure that your Floor Tiles keep looking the best for times to come. A solution of mild soap and water applied the surface of the tile on a regular basis is generally enough to keep your floor clean and looking its best. But from time to time, depending on the level of household traffic, it may be necessary to spruce your floor up with a few readily available treatments. There are ways to ensure that your floor tiles lasts for long in good condition, although it is impossible to avoid wear and tear that comes with time. This article is about some of the tips that can help you protect your floor tiles :

Stains These are the biggest problem with Floor Tiles. Stains from kitchen mishaps or dirt from shoes can imbed themselves in pores of your tiles and can make them look ugly. There are many household cleaners that make the claim about removing stains from your tiles, but most of them not even come near to time honored method of diluted muriatic acid.

Dilute the acid to a 60/40 acid/water solution and carefully remove the stains. Eye protection masks and heavy gloves are imperative.

Be very careful when moving anything heavy over Floor Tiles. This can break your tiles and make them look ugly. Avoid dropping something heavy on tiles too.

Be very careful with Ceramic Tiles and avoid using acidic or alkaline cleaner. These kinds of cleaners can lessen the gloss of your tiles. Avoid using soap and vinegar too for similar reasons.

Although a bit costly lamination or protective coating can be used to protect the floor tiles. They help floor tiles against weathering, cracking, oil, chemicals and other moisture.

If tiling yourself make sure that you handle tiles properly. Improper handling may cause it to break and you might get hurt.

Sub floors usually help floor tiles lasting longer by preventing them from loosing and breaking.

Remember to clean stains immediately to prevent them from setting into the flooring Tiles.

I hope this article is clear some basic doubts about floor tile maintenance.

Vitrified Tiles n Marble

Wall Tiles
Flooring playing vital role in home decor and choosing right flooring can set the tone of the room. Basically professionals like architect, builders or developers choose the right type of materials to be used as flooring but when it is time to replace or upgrade the flooring, you have to choose one that can do wonders for the décor of your house. The flooring you opt should meet functional and visual requirements of the room.

The right kind of flooring gives your home an enhanced look. Different areas usually require different types of Ceramic Tiles or granite and marbles. Marbles, granite and natural stone tiles are very beautiful but harder to maintain.

Marble: Amongst the building stones, marble occupies a unique position. Marble stones consist of limestone that has undergone heat and pressure. Marble is highly durable and resistant to water and grease. While choosing Indian marble for flooring, remember not to choose the extremely shining variety as this attracts more dust and may also develop cracks. As these marbles develop crack easily and need regular polishing, they cannot be used in rooms that are frequently used like bathrooms, kitchen or children’s rooms.

Ceramic Tiles: Tiles are available in varying patterns, designs and utility options. The various types of Floor Tiles in India include Ceramic floor tiles, Rustic Tiles, Vinyl, Mosaic and Porcelain tiles. Tiles need to be installed with a lot of care. Any unevenness can cause the tiles to break. Vitrified Tiles do away with some problems found in ceramic tiles. Vitrified Tiles also score on convenient Tiles installation, as they are pre-polished and ready to be used.

Marble has a relatively lower abrasion resistance (The ability of a material to withstand mechanical action such as rubbing, scraping, or erosion, that tends progressively to remove material from its surface) compared to Vitrified Tiles.

Vitrified Tiles have far superior properties compared to marble or natural granite because being a manufactured product their quality is controlled whereas in naturally occurring marble and granite good quality is just a coincidence. Marble yellows over extended time duration whereas Vitrified Tiles retains their color for decades.

Polished natural granite shows several surface defects and a good quality is just a matter of chance whereas Vitrified Tiles are guaranteed for consistent good quality. Marble needs regular polishing and develops cracks easily. Main advantages of Vitrified Tiles are they are tougher, rigid and scratch resistant.

Marble laying is very cumbersome and time consuming whereas Vitrified Tiles may be laid in a matter of hours and put to use after 48 hours. When comparing with Marble, Vitrified Tiles are not affected by fire and are absolutely fire safe flooring material. Marble shows several surface defects but Vitrified Tiles are guaranteed for consistent good quality and Vitrified Tiles are not affected by the use of hydrochloric acid as a cleaner. Marble is a metamorphic rock made up of calcite where Vitrified Tiles are a man-made product produced by compacting clay dust under enormous pressure into molds. For Cleaning Marble flooring, stone cleaners or mild detergents should be used. But Vitrified Tiles can be washed with any tile cleaner and method.

Why Ceramic Tiles

Sanitary Ware Manufacturers
The ceramic tiles are the man-made materials which were formed almost 4000 years ago. The word ceramic was derived from a Greek word Keramos, which means pottery. The evidences of ceramic tiles first found in pyramids and also in the ancient cities of the Greek. The other archaeological evidences of ceramic tiles are Persian tiles work, mosaic of Spain, the Majolica Floor Tiles of Italy and so forth. We can say this ceramic tiles discovered by our forefathers are the oldest flooring material.

In the beginning, the Ceramic Tiles were simple white or fawn color used basically for the flooring of kitchen and the bathrooms, but today they come in wide range of sizes, shapes, designs, colors and patterns and that's why they can be installed anywhere in the house. With technical advancements, the Ceramic Tiles are available in countless designs and patterns.

Well, the ceramic tiles are gaining popularity and now are becoming a favorite choice for designing house. This is only because of the qualities these tiles possess. Besides durability and toughness, the tiles are also known for their sophisticated and elegant look. The tiles give a classic glimpse to floor and are a much preferred flooring option because of their cost effectiveness as well as looks.

Numerous variety of ceramic tiles product are available in the market that can be used as floor tiles, Wall Tiles or roof tiles. However, based on the properties and materials, ceramic tiles are broadly classified into Vitrified tiles, Porcelain tiles, Mosaic tiles, Glazed tiles, Quarry tiles and Terracotta tiles. All the tiles have their own specialty and based on that have diverse uses.

The Vitrified Tiles are the replacement of stones and marbles due to their flawless joint, uniform color and texture. The porcelain tiles are excellent choice for using in outdoor, as they don't get damaged under heavy traffic. The mosaic tiles are most suitable on walls, curved surfaces as murals, in water pools, and low traffic floors, as they do not chip easily and are slip-resistant. The glazed tiles with satin finish are suitable for counter tops, walls and low traffic areas. The quarry tiles are mostly used in the heavy commercial establishments due to their naturally stain resistant and slip resistant qualities. The handmade or the machine made terracotta tiles are mostly used in the roof as they remain cool in the summer and hot in the winter.

Today, the Ceramic Tiles are used everywhere, like interior or exterior of a home, residential or commercial spaces and for their comprehensive usage they have got a new style statement. For having a long life cycle, durability as well as low-maintenance features, the ceramic tiles are now treated as an ideal flooring material.

Fully-Vitrified Tiles

Wall Tiles
If you’ve done any kitchen or bathroom remodeling lately, you probably looked at miles of tiles like glass, porcelain Tiles, glazed, and natural materials like granite, soapstone, and marble.  Some suppliers might have referred to the glass, porcelain Tiles, and glazed tiles as vitrified tiles, while the other tiles might have been categorized as stone or natural tiles.

You probably learned that Vitrified Tiles are less porous and easier to keep clean, while natural tiles are often favored for their tactile and aesthetic features.  But did you know that, for the same reasons vitrified tiling is a good choice for kitchens and bathrooms, it can be good for industrial flooring where sanitation is critical?

For decades Indian Ceramic Tiles manufacturers benefited from ready access to non-absorbent, fully-vitrified industrial floor tiles. This type of tile has gained favor in North America over the last five years, yet many industry professionals are still unclear about the performance benefits of fully-vitrified tiles.

Impervious, fully-vitrified Floor Tiles fit well into industrial food, beverage, and pharmaceutical processing environments.  The tiles are very dense and do not support bacterial or fungal growth.  When pressure-embedded in high-strength adhesive and grouted with epoxy, these strong tiles resist cracking and chipping, providing a durable, long-lasting floor.

Numerous surface texture options offer different degrees of slip resistance, while a range of color choices provides architectural diversity.  Highly chemical- and thermal-resistant, these tiles can stand up to harsh sanitizers and frequent steam or hot water cleaning.

Not just any joint materials will grab the smooth, dense surfaces of fully-vitrified tiles. High-strength epoxy adhesive and grout, specially formulated with adhesion promoters, do the trick. Pressure-embedment optimizes contact between the adhesive and tiles at the bed joint.

Let’s begin by defining vitrification. It is a process by which unfired ceramic bodies are turned into a fluid state producing a singular, homogeneous substance.  For manufactured Ceramic Tiles, heat drives the process.  As the tiles increase in their degree of vitrification, they approach a glassy state and their capacity to absorb water is reduced.  Water absorption is the ratio of the weight of water soaked into the tile divided by its dry weight.

When choosing floor tile for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical plants subject to strict sanitation regulations, water absorption is an important physical property to consider.  While ceramic tiles do not support the growth of bacteria, fungi, or molds, the pores in the tiles can harbor microbes and retain life-sustaining fluids.  It follows that lower-absorption tiles are inherently more sanitary than higher-absorption tiles, because they have less capacity to support or harbor harmful organisms.

Types of Flooring Tiles

Vitrified Tiles
If you are planning a new floor covering for different areas of your home, then you will soon be considering different options like hardwood flooring, floor tiles, linoleum or a simple carpet. With so many choices available to you, it is obvious that you will find it difficult to reach a decision quickly. However, it is important that you take your time while you finalize your choice, as flooring is expensive and it is an intelligent option to look around and research well, so that you purchase exactly what you need. In this article we will discuss different types of Floor Tiles available and why or why not they are a good choice for you.

Floor coverings in the form of tiles are usually divided in two categories, hard surface and soft surface. Let us take a look at the two categories and the various types of tiles included in them.

Hard surface

Ceramic Tiles
Porcelain Tiles

Ceramic Tiles: These tiles are very popular as floor coverings. They are usually made of soil, clay, composites and Kiln fire. They are great for kitchens and bathrooms as they are non porous and unlike hardwood flooring absorb wetness. Generally, these tiles are very slick, so it is better that you buy non slip variety for your bathroom and kitchens so as to avoid accidents.

Porcelain Tiles: For some one who loves the old fashioned classy look, porcelain is the perfect choice. They are available in various styles and designs and can be used both indoors and outdoors. These tiles are great for a place with harsh weather conditions like India. Porcelain tiles are fired at high temperature, so they last longer which makes them the perfect option for solid flooring in India.

Soft Surface

Vinyl Tiles
Linoleum Tiles

Vinyl tiles are amongst the most economical option for floor coverings. They are easy to install and are very durable. It is also very easy to clean them and they do not require a lot of maintenance.

Linoleum will give your floor a much needed face lift without burning a hole in your pocket. It is easy to put down and you have a great variety available from which you can choose the one you like the most.

Apart from the above mentioned categories, stone tiles are also a very popular option these days. These tiles are very durable and give a fresh look for a long time. For those of you who want a more upscale look and are not working on a tight budget then you can go for beautiful marble tiles by paying a little extra.

Floor covering is expensive and it is necessary that you choose the best quality products at the most affordable prices. A lot of companies have entered the online arena, making your shopping experience much more comfortable. Now you can easily select the best floor tiles while you are still sitting at home.

Types of Floor Tiles

Wall Tiles
Many homeowners are choosing to replace the carpeting in their homes with Floor Tiles. One reason why tile has become so popular is that it is much easier to clean and maintain than carpet. Several different types of flooring tiles are offered for purchase, which is another reason why it has become the flooring of choice.

Vinyl Tiles: These tiles feature adhesive backs, which makes them easy to install. They are fair inexpensive and are available in a variety of colors.

Mosaic Tiles: These tiles have a net on the back, which makes it possible for you to break them up to create your own pattern. They are usually used in small areas as an accent.

Ceramic Tiles: This is one of the most commonly used floor tiles. It is made of shale and clay, and then it is baked in a kiln. It is very dense and can be used in most rooms of the home.

Porcelain Tiles: This is one of the strongest and hardest types of tile. It is popular because of its durability and superior stain resistance. It is highly recommended for outdoor spaces and bathrooms.

Terracotta Tiles: This type of tile is made from natural clay and features a natural orange-brown color. They are extremely fragile and absorbent and are normally finished unglazed.

Saltillo Tiles: This tile is made of molded clay and is often referred to as Mexican or Spanish tiles. It is highly porous and must be sealed to prevent moisture and stains from liquids. Not recommended for use in climates susceptible to frost.

Cement Tiles: These tiles are created from molds and are dried naturally. They are very durable and available several colors.

Different Floor Tiles

Vitrified Tiles
Our choice of tile mostly comes down to your purpose and personal preferences. In addition, you have to consider where the tile will be used in order to make certain it suits the situation.

The tile you need for your tiling job will largely depend on the purpose of the tile. Tiles for a floor, for example, will differ from tiles you use for a bathroom wall. Floor Tiles will need to be rugged and hard wearing and, if they are intended for commercial use, they will need to be even more durable than your standard tiles.

Bathroom Wall Tiles, on the other hand, tend to be decorative and light in order to make the interior of the room look bright and inviting. In addition, many people choose colorful or decorative tiles for a kitchen wall because it is usually a small space that needs to be covered and, in many cases, they double as decoration or are complementary to the decor of the room.

Any tiles used for kitchen worktops need to be easy to clean and non porous.  Otherwise, it is possible that the tiles will absorb odor from foods such as onions and garlic and could become a breeding ground for bacteria and other germs.

Tiles can be made from ceramic, which is a popular choice for all kinds of tiling. They come in different colors, glazes, patterns and different hardness, depending on the use for which they are intended.

Stone is a popular alternative for Floor Tiles, particularly if you are going for a country appearance.
